PERPETUAL AWARDS

Len Bournes Memorial Shield - Non-Committee Member of the Year

   Awarded to:   Tito DINH

This award is given to a club person who is not on the management committee and has provided outstanding service to the club over the season. It is awarded to Tito in recognition of his service - as a premiership-winning coach, namely Grade 13 Div 2, as the coaching coordinator of the VAFA group, and his dedicated work through the season to enhance player development and fellow coaches' experience. Tito has worked tirelessly setting up fields, maintaining gear, and always being 'on call' to assist in any way. The award also acknowledges that Tito has been a successful coach at the club over several past seasons, winning competitions in both junior and senior teams.

Jack Parry Memorial Shield -  Committee Member of the Year

    Awarded to:  Vu PHAM

This award is given to a club person on the management committee who has provided outstanding service to the club over the season. It is awarded to Vu in recognition of his contribution and for his tireless service to both the VAFA and general Norths communities and for the many roles that he filled, including gear manager, sponsorship manager, communications coordinator and social manager, and also his work with coordination and encouragement of all the club's teams. It also acknowledges that Vu has been volunteering for several years to develop opportunities for his community and promote junior soccer development for all who wish to participate.

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS

Volunteer of the Year - Theresa Dinh

Theresa is a young woman in North's All Age Ladies team. This is her first year playing competitive soccer, but she comes from a 'soccer family' - and it shows. She is an outstanding player who always gives 110% on the field; Theresa manages our training for the 'little soccer Roos'  twice a week and can have up to 20 or 30 young ones in each session. It has been amazing to watch her with the kids - how she can manage so many all at once, how much fun they have, and how they have progressed in their skill levels. Theresa has also volunteered her time to engage in work that keeps the club going - setting up fields, assisting in the canteen, and time on the BBQ. Her help has been invaluable. In a time when all clubs can struggle to attract volunteer helpers, it has been greatly appreciated by our club that such a young person has been prepared to do so much.

Coach of the Year  -  Mahir (Max) Kavazovic

Max did an outstanding job with our Under 12 Div 2 team this year. He faced lots of obstacles. The team did not have enough players early in the season and fell to the bottom of the ladder. But they always played their personal best, with good spirit, and with encouragement and direction from their coach. The boys learnt a lot -  life skills and soccer skills, and with the addition of some extra players, they made it to the Grand Final. This was a nail-biting game to the very end with extra time and a penalty shoot-out, which, unfortunately, Norths lost. But a great result for the year after a difficult start, and full credit to Max for getting the most out of his team.
